International markets

Your store, native everywhere it sells

International demand usually arrives before international readiness: overseas orders trickle in, paid for in the wrong currency, shipped with surprise duties, on a site that reads foreign. Every one of those frictions taxes conversion in markets you have not even tried to win yet.

Good questions

Asked by founders considering international markets. Yours are welcome too.

Do we need separate stores for each country?

Usually not. Shopify Markets handles currency, language, and domains from one store for most brands. Separate stores earn their overhead only with deeply divergent catalogs or operations, and we will tell you if you are genuinely there.

What usually blocks international conversion?

Prices in a foreign currency, unexpected duties at delivery, unfamiliar payment methods, and shipping costs revealed too late. All four are fixable with configuration and honesty, and fixing them is often the whole win.

Should we translate the whole store?

Translate where language changes buying behavior: navigation, product essentials, checkout, and policies first. Full editorial translation can follow for priority markets. We sequence it by revenue impact rather than ideology.
